Your Data
An allegation relating to data sharing with other carer sites has been recently started and spread by a carer who is not associated with this site. Carerwatch is run by carers who would expect to have their data protected and who treat all carers' data with the confidentiality they would expect for themselves.
Carerwatch neither receives carers' details from nor shares carers' details with any other site.

What is the Government Up To?
What do you think they are really up to, what's good and what's bad, let us know if you know anything, do you have a theory, is it a cover up or genuine proposal?

Mental Health Carers
Mental Health services are the Cinderella of the health service. They are already woefully under funded and the latest round of cuts is too much for them to bear. Mental Health carers often care for young adults at a critical crisis in their lives and then for many years after that. The support we get from the mental health services needs to be updated.

Financial Support for Working Age Carers
If you give up work to become a carer you will be expected to use up all your own assets and probably lose your home before the state will give you financial support. This is completely unfair.

Older Carers
When pensioners become carers it is all too often a matter of those in need of care, caring for those in need of even greater care. Older carers need far more specialist support.

Sick and Disabled Carers
Were you sick or disabled when you started caring? Have you experienced illness or disability as a consequence of caring? Have you found that assessments have failed to take into account the limitations your illness or disability places on your ability to care? Have you been unable to access treatment because you're a carer? This is the place for sick and disabled carers to share their experiences of trying to get their illness or disability into account and to discuss ways of ensuring that their needs and the limitations on their capacity to care effectively are not overlooked.

Working Carers
Are you a working carer? Do you feel that services have failed to take into account the difficulties you experience trying to hold down a job and care? Have you had to reduce your hours to accommodate your caring responsibilities? And are you finding the strain of trying to work and provide care unsustainable? This is the place for working carers to discuss the difficulties they face and suggest ways of changing systems so that the needs of working carers are taken into account.

Cuts
Every day we hear of local authorities closing, withdrawing or cutting back on essential facilities and services. The already inadequate care system is dying on its feet. We have to halt that process, not next year, not the year after that, we have to halt it NOW.

Social and Health Care-What Does Work?
To mount a successful campaign it's not enough to know what doesn't work, we also need to know what does, we need to be able to identify and build up a body of evidence to prove that good practice is a viable alternative to poor practice. If you've had a positive experience, if you're aware of services that work in your area or if you have suggestions to improve the experiences of carers this is the place to put them.
